Congratulations, you're hired!
You drive to the campground and are shown where to park. It's next to the dumpsters. Ugh! What to do!?!! Relax. The manager or owner does not want the premium sites taken up by work campers, but that does not mean that there are not other sites you can have.
Get It In A Contract
When negotiating for a work camping position, remember that you will be spending your nights and most of your waking time at your site. Work campers are usually part time! You do not want to smell the stagnant treatment plant nor the fish cleaning station and especially not the restrooms!
When the negotiations get serious, look online at the campground. Look at the campgrounds website, Facebook page, Google Maps and Campground Reviews website for photos of the sites. Then choose three or four that you would like and try to get the campground to include the specific site number in the contract.
Onsite
Well, the site is terrible. It's not level, water drains into it and the sewer connection has been mutilated by the lawn mower. What to do? Again, look around the campground and find a few sites you would like to camp at and then ask if these are available.
We won't be camping in the water front, concrete pad premium sites with the outside kitchen but we won't be parked next to the water delaminated 5th wheel with the adolescent teens all learning to drive next to our vehicles, golf cart and bicycles.
What do you like? In our experience, the back section is for commuter campers, the blue color workers that live in a camper to save money. The folks camping on water front sites and near the entrances are usually recreation campers and enjoy watching the game and cooking out. We like to be where the action is, but fairly close to the gate for easy in and out.
